Relationship Ideas 2

2. Give in ways that count most for your partner.

Don’t assume that your partner’s needs are the same as your own. Does your partner have a strong need to be heard and understood, to feel valued, their opinions treated with respect, a need for fun and enjoyment, or for some freedom from stress or to do something for themselves? By appreciating the needs that are especially important for your partner, you can target your efforts in ways that count most for them. By doing so, you increase the likelihood of them giving in return or at least cutting you some slack when you are having a bad day. The things they are most appreciative of will give you some clues as to what they need to feel more satisfied. Even their complaints will let you know what they need to feel happier, but the key here is to focus more on what they need rather than on their behavior.
