I think I fall into the group she describes as being not so noisy. Technology can certainly be used to stay connected with people but if I was being constantly made aware of all the inane minutiae of everyone I know I think my head would asplode.
She says that knowing these details creates intimacy. At the risk of becoming ensnared semantically, I see this as more of a “false intimacy.” Getting short bursts of possibly useless information with no context would, I guess, not create more intimacy for me.
Also, I could be wrong but isn’t the Twitter thing only one way? I.e.; here’s what’s going on with me but you can’t interact with the Twitter stream?
This is certainly just the thing for some people and I love the simplicity of the Twitter mechanism, but a Twitterfied world would probably make me more crazy than I already am. 🙂
